30 minutes in January

Jan 3, 2026

There's a flower called the corpse flower, it only blooms once every 10 years. During that time, it needs to be cared for, nurtured, and constantly monitored just for a chance to catch the bloom. It only blooms for a day or two and it's gone, for another 10 years.

Today, Nicolas Maduro, the heir to the Chavista Dictatorship in Venezuela, was extradited to the United States in a covert mission carried out by the 160th SOAR. It was a smash and grab operation lasting only 30 minutes.

I waited 23 years for these 30 minutes. Contrary to what some would call the warmth of collectivism, it took the audacity of a small group of people on 11 choppers taking on hundreds of well-armed, well-trained criminals to change 23 years worth of history.

Hopefully we don't have to wait another 23 to see the beautiful outcome that would be a free, independent, and strong Venezuela.

Hopefully this flower blooms year-round from now on.
